A new 5ft 5" Mini Simmons from Roger Hall in New Zealand. Not too many of these over the ditch I would think. It will be good to see what Roger will come up with next after checking out many of these such craft at the 5 Fish Fry's he has been to.

Kiwi Simmons
I just stole this shot from Fish N Log blog that Mike C took of Roger Hall - Surfline Surfboards in New Zealand shaping what are probably some pretty rare craft for the boyz over the ditch.Yeah some mini simmons on the go. Great to see the boys getting up to speed. They will never look back I can tell you. This will be the start of something for sure , once some of those flightless buggars get their blinkers off.Roger will show them the way for sure.
Some people are going to a lot of trouble to bring something special to the Fish Fry
A five stringer flextail fish nearing completion.Roger Hall will be taking her out for a few test drives prior to cutting the swallow tail into the rear.
Roger working away in a 5ft 11" x 21 3/4" x 2 7/8" Speed Dialer. The mix of timbers are : Centre Beam - Agarve , Central Lattice Beams - Paulownia/Redwood/Pine , Outer Lattice Beams - Agarve and Cabbage Tree , All other beams are either Redwood, Balsa or Paulowina.
All fully chambered and foiled , now the rails and then hours of hand sanding , very carefully as you have so many different timbers and densities to contend with.
You won't see Roger doing things by halves...
The board in the background is a Speed Dialer - 5'11" x 21" x 2 7/8" with timbers : Centre Beam - Redwood/Paulowina. Outer Lattice Beams - Agarve and Cabbage Tree. Rail Beams - Redwood;/Pine/Purple Heart/Oregon/Mahagany. All other beams are either Paulowina or Redwood or Balsa. He is also working on a Keel Fin Fish - 5'10" x 22" x 2 7/8" - Central Lattice - is Coconut Balsa with Pine and Redwood Stringers. Rails are Redwood and Coconut.
Be sure to check out the detail and craftsmanship of this guy. They certainly don't come much better than this. To my mind Roger is the best wooden board builder I have seen. Maybe a big call ? Then send me your pics and I will post them as well.

Roger Hall from Surfline Surfboards in New Zealand has been a great supporter of the fish fry and here is a board he has made especially for this years get together. He sees it as a great opportunity to experiment and pull together some of his ideas and thoughts into one board rather than just small progressive tweeks to his regular line up. And hopefully this is what the fish fry is about. A source of inspiration for experimentation to try new things or combinations of old ideas and see where they lead. With 9 stingers and some complex curves it also showcases Roger's talent and craftsmanship as a handshaper. Great to see . So come along to the fish fry with an open mind and share the talent on display and talk to the talented buggers who will be there.
Rogers board for the Fry is is taking shape

All profiled and ready for hand shaping.
The start of 9 sunburst stringers being glued up.
Roger making the most of nice little local beach break at " The Race Track" down the road from his factory. A couple of rides to see where he can draw some inspiration for his new take on "The Son Of Sea Creature" Looking forward to the finished board. The original had huge concaves and a long raking single fin.A big thankyou to Mike / Micro from Fish N Log for all the great pics.
